The Scope
AusGroup carried out one of the highest profile jobs for the shutdown which includes the removal of the old HHeX and all supporting ducts, followed by the installation of the new HHeX with newly configured ducts, insulation and support towers. In preparation, the HHeX was relocated from the laydown area to the staging area onsite ready for the shutdown.
The removal and installation of the HHeX required powerline works, multiple dual crane lifts and a specialised truck to manoeuvre the HHeX that weighed 140 tonnes and measured 26 meters in height.
AusGroup Kwinana Operations played an integral part of the shutdown by fabricating the new stainless steel ducts and support towers made from exotic metals.
